1. Min. 2 years experience
2. Age between 22 – 45 years old.
The jobs description as follows:
Role: Machinist Reporting: Foreman – Machine Shop
Business Need / Purpose of role:
To machine and inspect parts and components for rotating equipment
utilizing all types of machines
Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:
(Results this role is expected to accomplish)
1. Working from preliminary design information and layouts,
fabricates complete prototype or custom
machines parts. Fabricates any part complete from scratch to meet
customer requirements
2. Sets up and operates all shop machines of various sizes
including : engine lathes, vertical turret
lathes, horizontal boring machines, milling and drilling machines,
grinders and other machine tools.
Moves to different machines as needed to meet customer requirements
3. Reads engineering blue prints, drawings or diagrams
4. Works under very limited supervision
5. Ensures that machinery is functioning properly
6. Performs routine maintenance on machinery
7. Performs housekeeping tasks as required
8. Meets quality and specification standards
9. Uses various measurement devices
10. Calculates various mathematical formulas to determine part
dimensions, feeds and speed and
tolerances
11. Follows safety and environmental rules, company policies and
procedures in carrying out duties
12. Serves as an expert level resource for less experienced
machinists.
13. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
14. Trains the less experienced machinists
15. As a member of the service center does what is necessary to meet
customer requirements of
delivery, quality and service levels
Objectives & Measurement:
Demonstrative Evidences on :
1. On-time delivery
2. Reduction in costs/wastage and scrap
3. Abide by the Heath, Safety, Environment and Quality policy
followed by the company at all times
General Information
This position reports to the Foreman – Machine Shop. Peers include
other machinists, welders, fitters,
technicians within the facility.
Nature, Scope and Requirements
The machinist receives general assignments directly from the
Foreman – Machine Shop. All work is self-inspected with corrective
action completed by the machinist himself or the foreman.
Person Specification – Job Knowledge / Education and
Qualifications / Personal Attributes
1. Background and experience in a machine shop environment
2. Strong understanding of machining processes
3. Ability to run all shop machines
4. Understanding of engineering drawings
5. Understanding of metallic properties
6. Ability to work independently and in a team
7. Ability to train fellow machinists
8. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
The salary offered UED 4,000. Accommodation and meal: not provided.
